It's Winter at Arrowhead!

Arrowhead received between six and eight inches of snow over the past weekend. The filing roads were closed Sunday, December 2nd, so winter parking rules are in effect. This is a wonderful prelude to winter and we're ready for more!

Snowfall amounts from the first strong storm of the season were just enough to get us practiced up for the big storms to come! Photo: Cheri Ratliff

Some Like it Hot!

The Volunteer Fire Department burned the stump dump early November 30, 2007. Close to twenty-five people were there to watch and warm themselves. Above the loud, crackle of the fire, snow was falling gently.

Doug Cockes, a full time resident of Arrowhead, has spent the past three months flying ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) missions over Iraq. The main purpose of the daily flights was to find and report the location of IEDs. Improvised Explosive Devices are responsible for killing or dismembering many of our soldiers.

Doug felt honored and privileged to work with the men and women serving in Iraq. He was truly impressed with their positive attitudes, willingness to serve and their sense of purpose. Reports indicated that the recent troop surge, the introduction and utilization of new technologies, and the willingness if the Iraqi people to finally do their part, have begun to make a measurable difference.

ICE. Submitted by the Koeltzow’s.
We all carry our mobile phones with names and numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people
attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence, this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

All you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during an emergency under the name "ICE" (In Case of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, emergency service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name, simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3, etc. This is a great idea that will make a difference!

ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.
