Hazel Lake is now open for fishing! Two summers ago it was stocked with 500 Rainbow trout fingerlings and they should be big enough to catch now. We don’t know how many of these fingerlings survived, but fish have been seen jumping and breaking the surface of the water.

Fishing at this lake will be catch and release with single hook flies or lures. Please wet your hands in the lake before touching a fish, since dry hands can damage the slime coating on the fish and make them susceptible to disease.

The vegetation that is floating on top of the water is called Potamogeton. It’s a healthy water plant that provides shade for the fish and food for the water fowl.

Hazel Lake is the only lake on Arrowhead property and it has a lot to offer. There is a nature trail around the lake - it’s a little over 1/2 mile around (.64). In winter the nature trail becomes a groomed cross country ski track. The lake is open for non-motorized boating, kayaking, canoeing and rafting. There are over 40 different species of wildflowers along the nature trail in mid-summer. You can see butterflies, Red wing black birds, several kinds of ducks and their babies, grouse, turkey and deer. The geese usually come in mid to late September. There’s a bench on the west side of the lake and a picnic table at the parking area on the NW side of the lake. And now it is open for fishing. So, go on over to your lake and enjoy all that it has to offer.
